Discover the Barrington Coast & Port Stephens Marine Park with Forster dive Centre.

At Forster Dive Centre, we are deeply committed to showcasing the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Barrington Coast and Port Stephens – Great Lakes Marine Park. These extraordinary regions offer a wealth of biodiversity and have significant historical and cultural importance, making them the perfect setting for our eco-tourism experiences.

Natural Wonders
The Barrington Coast is home to a stunning variety of ecosystems, from the ancient rainforests of the Barrington Tops to the lush coastal wetlands that support diverse wildlife. The region is recognized for its rich habitats, including mangroves, estuaries, and sandy shores, all providing critical refuge for a host of marine and terrestrial species. The endangered grey nurse shark can be found in the coastal waters here, while dolphins and a range of seabirds make the region their home.

Port Stephens – Great Lakes Marine Park is another spectacular area we explore. Covering 980 square kilometers, this marine park extends from Cape Hawke near Forster to Birubi Beach and includes the protected waters of Myall Lakes, Karuah River, and the estuaries. The park is known for its biodiversity, with critical habitats for sea turtles, whales, and fish species. The stunning waters of Port Stephens are a hub for marine life, offering guests the opportunity to witness an underwater world like no other.

Cultural Significance
The Barrington Coast and Port Stephens region also holds immense cultural significance. The local Worimi people have lived in harmony with the land and sea for thousands of years, and their connection to these landscapes is central to the cultural identity of the area. Sacred sites, such as Dark Point in Myall Lakes, reveal evidence of traditional Aboriginal practices, and the ancient wisdom passed down through generations informs the stewardship of these lands.
As part of our commitment to respectful eco-tourism, we collaborate with Indigenous groups to provide authentic cultural experiences.

Adam - Captain Clarkie

PADI Open Water Instructor
Coxswain - Boat Captain
After growing up in Forster, I travelled Australia as a motorbike stunt rider performing in the Globe Of Death! Always challenging myself, I discovered scuba diving and instantly loved it!
Im now an Instructor and Coxswain boat captain. I have always been around the water and today I love to share my experiences with as many as possible.
Having a brother with Downs Syndrome who loves the water, I really wanted him to experience the feeling of freedom and happiness I experience underwater.  His first dive was quite emotional for him but even more for me. After a couple of session in the swimming pool, I decide to adapt a program allowing us to take people with challenges underwater.  You can learn more about the program 'Diving with Challenges'

Amelie - Frenchie

PADI IDC Staff Instructor in both English and French
I will always remenber my first dive, I was 8 years old. A couple of years later, I was finally old enough to get certified and jump in the big blue. I set up my mind, when i grow up, I want to save the fish! Since young I have always been attracted by the marine life! so I naturally studied marine biology and travelled the world, specializing myself on different techniques to restore the reef and monitore them.

For me, instructing is the best way to share with divers the need to protect our ocean! Once you see all the beauty the ocean hides, you just feel like you HAVE to protect it!
