Community Engagement Our Vision!

Community Engagement Our Vision
We’re deeply committed to empowering the local community—by creating jobs, celebrating Indigenous culture, supporting inclusive access, and nurturing ocean stewardship.

Indigenous Leadership & Cultural Partnerships
- We seek local Aboriginal coxswains and deckhands and dive guides, honouring traditional knowledge while offering meaningful employment.
- Partnering with Tobwabba Aboriginal Services, we jointly deliver dive training and whale/snorkel tours that integrate Indigenous cultural storytelling and marine conservation education.

Accessible Adventure Experiences
We design bespoke dive and snorkel experiences in collaboration with individual NDIS clients, ensuring each outing is safe, inclusive, and empowering. Participants gain confidence, enjoy the underwater environment, and become motivated ocean advocates.

Community & Wellness Collaboration
- We partner with Buddy Up Australia – Forster Branch, part of a national initiative that supports ex-service and first responder individuals through adventure, social connection, and purpose-driven events like fishing, hikes, yoga, and scuba diving. Through our dive courses and adventure tours, we provide tailored outdoor experiences that align with their wellness mission. (Buddy Up Australia)
- We offer whale-watch and snorkel tours with Fresh TRACS (Therapy Recreation Activities Community Support), a community organisation focused on therapeutic recreation and boosting client confidence and communication through creative and marine-based outings.

Partnerships & Local Engagement
- We maintain a strong ongoing relationship with the Barrington Coast Visitor Centre in Forster, delivering community information, supporting eco-tourism, and guiding visitors to culturally rich marine experiences.
- We are active members of the Forster Tuncurry Business Chamber, collaborating with local businesses to enhance tourism, economic development, and coastal conservation efforts.
- We’re proud sponsors of local festivals and sporting events, helping support community vitality and regional identity while showcasing our commitment to supporting grassroots initiatives.

Educational Initiatives
We hope to be soon launching educational programming in collaboration with Margaret Jurd College, Tuncurry, aimed at engaging students with marine biology, conservation awareness, and cultural heritage through interactive field experiences and school visits. Watch this space for an update!

Building a Unified, Ocean-Loving Community
By uniting Indigenous leadership, disability inclusion, wellness partnerships, local business support, and youth education, we’re cultivating a vibrant, diverse community fuelled by respect for culture and the environment. Together, we empower people, protect our marine environment, and foster a sense of shared responsibility for the future of our coast.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, the Gathang-speaking people and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in our area. We extend our respect to Elders past and present, and to all future cultural-knowledge holders.
